Introducing Ganza Moïse: #PoetMeUp Guest Host for October 2022
Hello, and welcome to The Swala Tribe Newsletter, your source of information and updates regarding The Swala Tribe Magazine, and the #PoetMeUp Podcast. We’re thrilled to announce Ganza Moïse as the host of #PoetMeUp podcast for the month of October.
Ganza Moïse is an independent filmmaker, published picture book author, and poet. He is also the co-founder of Kiruri MFN a production company based in Kigali. In 2015 he wrote and directed his first short film Despair. He’s worked on more than 10 short films as Assistant Director and has also starred in Mbabazi Philbert’s I got my Things and Left (2018) and Fish Bowl (2020) by Ngabo Wa Ganza.
Moïse has published two picture books, Ubwoba Bwa Ntwali (Kibondo Editions, 2016) and Bo Igikoresho Kitazwi (SBD Books, 2017). His poetry covers such a wide array of topics including love & heartbreak, existentialism, pan-Africanism, and the warmth of a lover’s embrace, among others.
Ganza’s directorial career comprises more than 8 short films, which have screened in various festivals worldwide including; Silicon Valley African Film Festival, Cascade Festival of African Films, the AfrYKamera Film Festival, Signos de Noite, Africa In Motion, Hamwe Festival, Moscow International Experimental Film Festival, ZIFF, and the 67th Oberhausen international short film festival where his film “Sensory Overload” won the jury’s special mention. His latest film MUZUNGA premiered at the 2022 Oberhausen international film festival. Films he produced, like IMUHIRA and From Here to There, have screened at prestigious festivals like the Locarno film festival and Oberhausen international short film festival.
